Sharon L. Ford, 78, of West Burlington, died at 11:09 PM Monday, November 20, 2017, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born August 31, 1939, in Egan, SD, she was the daughter of Paul and Ada Tuttle Clark.
Sharon was the Director of Southeast Iowa Community Action for 49 years.
She had a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
She was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church, Burlington Civic Music, Rotary Club, and enjoyed giving to her community. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her children, Bible studies, singing with her church choir, shopping at Younker's and Christopher and Banks, and getting her hair styled. She was a great cook and loved to bake.
Survivors include three daughters, Melissa (Robert) Scherzer of Randolph, NJ, Dedria Ford of Brighton, MO, and Theresa Desperela of HI; six sons, Samuel Ford of Burlington, Mark Ford of Marshall, MO, Rollie (Lori) Ford of Ford, TX, Davio Dakotublu of Brooklyn, NY, Charles Ford of IA, and Robert (Theresa) Ford of Columbus, OH; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Doherty; three brothers, Robert (Beverly) Clark, Lar...[more]
arry (Lisa) Clark, and Rodney (Tanya) Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Paul Jr., two sisters, Marion Miller & Roberta "Bert" JoAnn Clark.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mrs. Ford will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 25, 2017, at West Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend David Bracht-Wagner officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Burlington Golf Club following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and West Hill United Methodist Church.
