John W. Kelly, 70, of Keokuk, died at 1:57 PM Sunday, November 9, 2003, at Great River Medical in Burlington, Iowa. He was born November 20, 1932 in Gilman, Illinois, the son of Earl D. and Susie Tharp Kelly. He married Nancey Klampe on October 3, 1975 in Carthage, Illinois. She survives. He graduated from Plymouth Community High School in Plymouth, Illinois. He was a truck driver for WM Johnson Truck Lines for 50 years, retiring in 2003. He had driven 41/2 million miles accident without an accident. He attended Evangelical Free Church. His hobbies included woodworking and computer games. He enjoyed country music, going to Branson, and trips to Arkansas. He loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Nancey of Keokuk; five children, Richard Kelly and his wife, Sandy, of Cantril, Iowa, Connie Heiser and her husband, David, of Pulaski, Iowa, Robin Chaplin and Calvin Bartholomew of Milton, Iowa, David Kelly and his wife, Dianne, of Sigourney, Iowa and Angela Kelly and Jeff Holliday of Keokuk; four stepchildren, Perry Phillips of Altoona, Iowa, Polly Antonelli and her husband, Joseph, of Altoona, Iowa, Jennifer Goodenow and her husband, Mitchell, of Waukee, Iowa and Jeremy Phill...[more]

and Deb Copeland of Des Moines, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, Andrey & Michael, Kelli, Justin & Heather, Brandon K., Brandon H., Sarah, Adam, Dominic, Perry, Lisa, Kelsey, Alex, Reggie, Ronnie; five great grandchildren, Madelyn, Jessica, Alyssa, Tyreece & Zander; two brothers, James Kelley and his wife, Ilene, of Norwalk, Iowa and William Kelly and his wife, Nadine, of Keokuk; a sister, Mary Smith and her husband, Dallas, of Parker, Colorado; two brothers-in-law, Don Klampe and his wife, Nancy, of Jackson, Kentucky and James Klampe and his wife, Barbara, of Oskaloosa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Dawn Eacker and her husband, Dean, of Kamiah, Idaho; and many other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at DeJong's Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Burton officiating. Memorials may be made for a future Great River Medical Hospice House.
