Ida P. "Sis" Steele

Ida "Sis" Pauline Steele, 74, of Keokuk, died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 11:02 P.M. at Lexington Square in Keokuk, Iowa. Ida Steele was born on September 21, 1929, in Hamilton, Illinois. She was the daughter of Alviris J. and Bessie Blanch Slater Land. She was first married to Joseph Benedict. She later married Eugene Hall. She then married Donald Steele and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1991. She had been a lifelong resident of Keokuk and was a member of New Testament Christian Church. She had been employed at Drydens, 6 to 6 Café, Harrington's Lounge, the Grand Lunch, and at Bing's Cab. She loved to sew, and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to travel. nia, and Bryan Steele of Arkansas; twenty-seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Steele; six brothers, Augustus, Alva, Jessie, William, George, and Thomas; and four sisters, Sara, Jennie, Viola, and Goldie. Services were Monday, March 8, 2004 at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to Lee County Hospice or Lexington Square Center.
