Mildred lived out her personal faith in Christ, leaving a great legacy for family and friends. She encouraged and demonstrated a love of God's Word and ordered books from The Christian Readers Library to pass that love on to her children. She listened to Christian radio throughout the day. The family spent many evenings on the farm, particularly in the winter, playing hymns - with Mildred at the piano, Wesley on the violin, and the children on various instruments. Mildred and Wesley formed a vocal quartet with her sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Stanley Mitchell, which many enjoyed. As her children grew up and left home, Mildred began to have time for quilting, and she made quilts for almost everyone in her family. She insisted on making them 100% with hand stitching, saying that machine quilting made the quilts too stiff. She also thoroughly enjoyed plants and birds. Mildred was preceded in death by husband, Wesley; son, Sam; son-in-law, Roy; and grandson, Scott. She is survived by 10 children, 30 grandchildren, and 51 great grandchildren with another on the way. She loved having them visit and they will all miss her loving influence.
