Ronald Dean Nelson

COTTAGE GROVE-Ronald Dean "Nellie" Nelson, age 62, of Cottage Grove passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born May 14, 1955, in Dodgeville, the son of Harold and Joyce (Fine) Nelson Jr. Ron graduated from Robert M. LaFollette High School in 1973.  He married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Kris Oren on 8-8-88 in Madison.  Ron began his career in the construction industry and years later ventured on to a career with Madison Metro for the past 26 years.  He was an avid sports fan and loved his Badgers, Packers and Brewers. Ron is survived by his wife, Kris Nelson; sons, Tyler (McKenna Prestigiacomo) Nelson and Jake Nelson; mother, Joyce Nelson; brother, Frank Nelson; sister, Connie Kleist; father and mother-in-law, Clair and Nancy Oren; brothers-in-law, Kent (Karen Schwartz) Oren and Kevin (Jenny) Oren; his dog, Bailey (Fe Fe), grand-puppy, Remi (Pointer); as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Nelson Jr.; brother-in-law, David Kleist; sister-in-law, Kathy Oren Esse; grandparents; and numerous relatives.
