Gary Beaird

Gary A. Beaird, 56, of Rock Island, Illinois, and formerly of Keokuk, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island. He was born April 27, 1948 in Keokuk, the son of Donald and Charlotte Madelaine Beaird. He married Dolly K. Dobbins on July 7, 1967 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. She survives. Gary was employed for 14 years at General Car and Truck Leasing of Davenport as a driver, last working in November 2003. He had previously worked at Dohrn Transfer in Rock Island and Don Beaird Contract Trucking in Keokuk. He was a member of the Teamsters Union in Keokuk and Rock Island. He is survived by his wife, Dolly of Rock Island, Illinois; a daughter, Dawn Shannon and her husband, Jay, of Rock Island, Illinois; a son, Derek Beaird of Rock Island, Illinois; his parents, Donald and Charlotte Beaird of Keokuk; a sister, Cindy Brassil and her husband, Woodie, of Keokuk; a brother, Pat Beaird and his wife, Patty, of Keokuk; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mindy, in 1971. Services were Saturday, March 12, 2005 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
