Helen K. Anderson, 68, of Keokuk, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at her home in Keokuk, Iowa. Helen Kathleen Venning Anderson was born on July 3, 1936 in Keokuk, Iowa. She was the daughter of Roy and Irene Merrick Venning. She married Robert L. Anderson on April 27, 1957 in Iowa City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2001. She attended Garfield Elementary School and graduated from Keokuk Senior High in 1954. She graduated from Gem City Business College in 1955. She was employed by Adams County Farm Bureau, Keokuk City Mayor's office, and at APAC as a Center Trainer in Human Resources. She retired from APAC in 1998. She most recently worked at Community Action in Keokuk. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school. She was a former Worthy Advisor of the Keokuk Rainbow Girls, and a member of the Elmira Chapter #40 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a volunteer for twelve years at Torrence Elementary School and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader and worked with the Shining Trail Adult Development Service. rt of her life. Her family was a source of joy. She really loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include three daughters, Kathie Anderson-Noel and her husband, Ken, of Fruitland, Iowa, Betsy Newbill and her husband, Bernard, of Keokuk, Iowa, and Kristine Payne and her husband, Sam, of Keokuk, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Brenda Newbill of Davenport, Iowa, Hilary and Clarissa Noel of Fruitland, Iowa, Robert and Jonathan Newbill of Keokuk, Gabe and Nicholas Payne of Keokuk; two great grandchildren, Jordon Newbill of Keokuk and Raeanne Clark of Jackson, Tennessee; two sisters, Barbara Babington of Keokuk and Patricia Rogers of Tucson, Arizona; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Janet Anderson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Mary Louise Van Vranken. Services were Friday, April 1, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Dr. Emmanuel Dass officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk. Visitation was Thursday, March 31, 2005 at DeJong's Funeral Home after 3:00 P.M. with the family meeting friends from 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
