Linda Spurgeon

Linda Marie Spurgeon, 60, of Keokuk, died at 12:50 AM, Friday, June 3, 2005 at Keokuk Area Hospital. Linda Spurgeon was born August 6, 1944 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Merle E. and Edith Margaret Pennington Hamelton, Sr. She married James Calvin Spurgeon in March 1965 in Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in dearth in May, 1984. She was a lifelong Keokuk resident and was a homemaker. She was a former member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She loved to play Bingo and had belonged to a ladies' card club. She had helped her parents and siblings run Sportsman Park for 13 years. She is survived by six children, Wendy Lynne Spurgeon of Keokuk, Stacy Diane Spurgeon of Keokuk, Travis Charles Spurgeon of Henderson, Kentucky, Scott Richard Spurgeon and his wife, Megan, of Keokuk, Todd Michael Spurgeon of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Joey Ryan Wilson of Keokuk; 14 grandchildren, including Ashley McGee who lived with her grandmother and helped care for her grandmother; one great grandchild; four brothers and sisters, Merle E. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev. William Olmsted officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made for her son Joey's education fund.
