Nathan Shay Morrison, 42, passed away, December 2 2017, surrounded by family, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A celebration of life memorial to honor Nathan will be held at the Thirsty Camel, Conesville, IA on Sunday, December 10, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Nathan's children's education fund. The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Nathan's arrangements and his family.
Nathan was born August 1 1975, in Iowa City to Lauren Liebergen and Randy Morrison. He grew up in Ainsworth, IA and graduated from Highland High School in 1993. He was active in sports during his youth and teen years and had a special love for wrestling, that lasted all of his life. He attended Kirkwood Community College and received an Associate's Degree in Industrial Maintenance in 1996. Nathan married Heather Jay on September 21 1996, in Columbus Junction, they later divorced. Nathan worked for various construction companies over the years and was often a self-employed contractor. were his two children, Tucker William (18) and Gracie Shay (16). He loved watching them grow up and enjoyed attending their many sporting events and school activities.
Nathan is survived by his children, Tucker of Columbus Jct/Ames and Gracie of Columbus Jct; parents, Lauren and John Spenner of Riverside and Randy Morrison of Crawfordsville; longtime friend and companion, Heather Morrison of Columbus Jct; brother Nick (Sarah) Morrison of Clarksville, TN; grandparents, Gerald and Marlene Liebergen of Ft Atkinson, WI and in-laws Mark and Faye Jay of Columbus Jct., along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Iola Morrison and an uncle, Lance Liebergen.
