Maxine Davis Nissen of Fort Collins died of natural causes on December 1, 2017. Maxine was born April 29, 1921 at Webb, Iowa. The daughter of Max A. and May Hemmingway Davis. She attended grade school and high school at Marathon, IA and received her R.N. degree from Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA. She married Marvin A. Nissen on December 24, 1941. She worked at hospitals in Texas, California and Illinois and saw many changes in obstetrics in her 25 years of service. She and Marvin were foster parents to several infants until they were placed for adoption. She was active in the Methodist Church and helped with the remedial reading program in Texas schools. She is survived by her three sons: Phillip of Costa Rica, Mark of Minneapolis, MN, and Scott of Fort Collins, CO, four granddaughters, one grandson, and one great granddaughter.
