Mary Jump

Mary M. Jump, 92 of Keokuk, died Monday evening, November 6, 2006 at River Hill Village in Keokuk, Iowa. Mrs. Jump was born October 7, 1914 the daughter of Leo and Rose Elisabeth Dalton Bryant. She was a resident of Keokuk, Iowa, most of her life. She married Lester S. Jump on June 19, 1930 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1985. She was a production worker at Hubinger for 17 years, and then she operated and owned three restaurants including Jump Lunch. She was a member of the Lutheran faith, Women of the Moose and the Eagles Auxiliary. She loved bowling, mushrooming, picking blackberries, yard sales and playing card games. She is survived by 2 sons, Lester Jump Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Marrow, Georgia; Ronald Butch Jump of Keokuk, Iowa; 2 sisters, Helen Howard of Keokuk, Iowa; Freida Rose of Louisville, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren: Kathy Hughes, Lester Jump, Danny Jump, Mary Elizabeth Jump, Robert Jump, Jeremy Jump, Virginia Jump. 4 Great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild several nieces and nephews including her guardian and special caregiver, Clyde "Butch" Mitchell, of Keokuk, Iowa. Lester; four brothers, James, Ward, Warren and Willard Bryant; two sisters, Eva Burdette and Verna Rose Griffin; and two sons, Harry V. and Bill D. Jump. Funeral services were Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at DeJong's Funeral Home with Pastor Clegguart Mitchell officiating. Burial followed at Hickory Grove Cemetery north of Keokuk, Iowa.
