Leona May Keesey, 95 of Keokuk, died Monday morning, November 6, 2006 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, Iowa.
Mrs. Keesey was born May 10, 1911 in Drakesville, Iowa she was 1 of 10 children to James T. and Raimee E. Kinsler Henderson. She was married to John M. Keesey in Keokuk, Iowa on February 12, 1931, who was a dentist in Keokuk, Iowa.
She was an avid quilter and made many beautiful quilts, some she sold, some she gave to friends and family. She was a Charter member Chapter IG, P.E.O. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, also enjoyed going to actions for antique furniture and dishes. She enjoyed refinishing furniture that she bought at actions. She was the last of 10 children. She was a wonderful, loving mother.
She is survived by 3 sons, James David Keesey of Keokuk, Iowa; John Conrad. Keesey of St. Clair, Missouri; Ivan Lee Keesey of Las Vegas, Nevada; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband John in August 1989, 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Graveside services were Monday, November 13, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Oakland Cemetery of Keokuk. [more]
