ntown Laurel. He was a member of the Shrine Club, Dixie Gulf Association, County Heart Fund, Jones County March of Dimes, Jones County Wildlife League, Laurel Chamber of Commerce, Laurel Jaycees, Boy Scouts of America, Laurelaires Square Dance club.
He was most proud of the accomplishments he made in the American Legion where served as Vice Commander, Commander, and Executive Board for post #11. Vice Commander, Commander, and Executive Board for post #8. State of Mississippi served as Vice Commander, Commander and Executive Board. National served as Alternate National Executive, Committeeman and Insurance Director. Member of the Grand Voiture of MS #297, served as Chef De Gare, Correspondent, Commissaire Intendant, Grand Chef De Gare, Grand Correspondent, and Grand Commissaire Intendant. Served as Treasurer for Jones Co. Veteran Memorial, and Veteran Memorial Museum.
Life memberships include, The American Legion Post #11, Grand Voiture of MS #297, Veterans of Foreign Wars #3042, Disabled American Veterans #59, and Military Order Of The Purple Heart #690.
He was a God loving, kind hearted person. To know him, was to love him. He gave his all to his country, community and family. He was a great role model to his family and we were honored to call him daddy, papaw, and best friend.
He was preceded in death by, his parents Hugh and Bessie Broome; wife, Doris Broome, grandson, Daniel Bailey; sister, Mary Broome; and one brother, Paul Broome.
He is survived by his son, Jim (Lynne) Broome; two daughters, Rebecca (Billy) Hinton, and Dorothy (Helm) Cooper; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great- great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Buster Cooper, Hugh Cooper, Gregory Bailey, Jimmy Broome, Jeff Broome, and Noah Bailey.
