Sammye Ruis

Sammye L. Ruis, 81, of Keokuk, Iowa died at 1:20 PM, Friday, November 16, 2007 at Keokuk Area Hospital. Mrs. Ruis was born July 5, 1926 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Madeline Brown Scott. She married Carlos M. Ruis on August 30, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1994. She was a life long resident of Keokuk, Iowa. She was the owner/operator of Sammye's Market from 1970 to 2004. Along with operating her store, she also helped her husband; daughter and granddaughter run their restaurant. She is survived by; Her son: Rick Ruis and his wife Gloria of Ft. Madison, Iowa; Grandchildren: Ted Ruis and his wife Kelley of Galesburg, Illinois; Roy Ruis of Lockhart, Texas; Raelene Maxwell of Keokuk, Iowa; Two great grandchildren: Hunter Maxwell; Trevor Ruis; Sister: Corky Wise of Keokuk, Iowa; nieces and nephews. According to her wishes, she was cremated. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Martha Music-Pryor; two sisters: Marion Schorr and Madeline Judy.
