Gladys G. Patten-Bridges-Michalski passed away on December 13, 2017, at Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa. Gladys was born on July 22, 1929, in Westphalia, Iowa, to Stephen and Johanna Coenen-Patten. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Russell (Rusty) C. Bridges in 1983; second husband, Severin (Vern) Michalski in March 2008; her oldest son, Thomas R. Bridges in May 2008; 3 brothers, Linus Patten, Emil Patten, and Anthony Patten; and 4 sisters, Regina Gessert, Kathryn Frieze, Rosemary Michalski and Corsina Sterzinger. She is survived by 1 brother, Harold (Mary Lou) Patten; 3 sons, John (Linda) Bridges of Pine Hill, New Jersey, James (Dennise) Bridges of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Mark (Pamela) Bridges of Omaha, Neb.; 2 daughters, Debra (Roger) Driver of Underwood, Iowa, and Mary Sue (Will) McGee of Paris, Arkansas; 1 daughter-in-law, Ruby (Thomas) Bridges of Underwood, Iowa; 20 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
