Margaret Shaffer

Margaret E. Shaffer, 87, of Keokuk, died at 7:25 PM, Saturday, April 19, 2008, at River Hills Village in Keokuk. Mrs. Shaffer was born August 28, 1920, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Karl and Grace Selves Ketha. She married Harold Shaffer on April 12, 1941, in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2002. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and had been employed for a time at Henke Hardware. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had received the Mission Recognition Award. She was a member of Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary, a very active volunteer, and had been named Auxilian of the Year. She was also a member of P.E.O., Chapter LZ. She is survived by two sons, Karl Shaffer and his wife, Debbie, of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Greg Shaffer and his wife, Barb, of Orion, Illinois; three grandchildren, Steffenie Perry and her husband, John, Stacy Havens and Greg Shaffer, Jr. and his wife, Bobi; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Morse of Chicago, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Dr. Emmanuel Dass officiating. Burial followed at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to Lee County Hospice.
