Mildred Amon

Mildred Marie Amon, 95, of Ft. Worth, Texas, formerly of Keokuk, died at 12:04 AM Thursday January 21, 2010 at her granddaughter's home in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was born on June 4, 1914 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer C. and Ethel A. Long Varner. She married Homer F. Amon on June 12, 1937. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1994. She lived most of her life in the Keokuk, Iowa, and Warsaw, Illinois, areas. For the last 5 ½ years, she had made her home with Gloria and Ray Wilson in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Crossview Fellowship in Keokuk. She loved music and played the piano and sang solos for her church for many years. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes and quilted for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Hanan and her husband, Jim, of Keokuk and Gloria Wilson and her husband, Ray, of Ft. Worth, Texas; one son, Jerry Amon and his wife, Betty, of Ft. Acker and her husband, Lyle, of Keokuk and Lois Wilson and her husband, Harold, of Wayland, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Amon; a son, Elmer Amon; and four brothers, Albert, Clarence, Emmanuel, and David Varner. Funeral service were Monday, January 25, 2010 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Lovell officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park, Keokuk, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Tarrant County Hospice of Ft. Worth, Texas.
