Funeral service were at St. Paul United Church of Christ, on Monday, October 18, 2030 Plank Road, Keokuk. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park.
Born July 15, 1918, she passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 12, after a long hospital stay at Blessing Hospital.
A graduate of Keokuk High School, never married, Edith was a devoted aunt to many generations. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Sylvia Peterson Yugar, Dr. Gregory Haase, and Karla Haase Hamlin, and many great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Peterson and Dorothy Meister Haase, and her nephew Robert K. Peterson.
Her parents were Robert Carl and Clara Meister. Edith worked most of her life as a secretary at the Hoerner Box Company. She was a gentle, kind, and considerate person who was loved by all who knew her. She always had a word of encouragement and displayed a positive and youthful spirit. Her sense of humor brought smiles to everyone she met. Edith was a lover of animals, nature,and golf.
She lived most of her life on Grand Avenue enjoying views of the Mississippi River that she loved. She lived her last years ...[more]
