DONALD E. ALVEY

Don Alvey, age 84, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at his home.Born March 10, 1928 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of John and Bessie (Hanshew) Alvey. He attended Fort Wayne Schools. He resided in Fort Wayne until moving to Columbia City in 1958. On July 29, 1977 he married Arola L. Boese at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. He always worked in Fort Wayne where he was employed at Summit City News and then at Blue Flame Gas Company and in 1982, he retired from Pyrofax. Survivors include his wife, Arola L. Alvey of Columbia City; son, Steven A. (Rita) Alvey of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Angie Geiger of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Amanda Jackson of Columbia City; grandson, Cory Alvey of Larwill; 3 sisters, Janice Adang of Fort Wayne; Susan Mills of Colorado Springs, CO; Betty Vondrau of Fort Wayne; 2 great-grandchildren, Relayna and Jace Allen Alvey both of Larwill. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Virginia Bristol and brother, George Alvey.
