GLENN R. MARTIN

Glenn R. "Spike" Martin, age 87, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 8:51 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at his home.Born on March 25, 1926 in Etna, Whitley County, he was the son of Chester Edward and Nita Gertrude (Kiester) Martin. He lived his entire lifetime in the Etna, Whitley County area, graduating from North Webster High School with the Class of 1944. On December 30, 1949 he married Boneta "Bonnie" Vesta Coverstone. Together they spent 63 years in Etna.He worked at Weatherhead, Columbia City, as a set-up operator for 30 years, retiring in 1987.Glenn was an avid Cubs baseball fan, IU basketball fan and farming was his life. Survivors include his wife, Boneta "Bonnie" Vesta Martin of Columbia City; sons, Dale Leon (Alisa) Martin of Scottsburg; Gary Wayne (Sherry) Martin of Columbia City; daughter, Melodie Ann (Randy) Wolfe of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and sister, Iva Jean (Jim) Knapp of Fort Wayne.He was preceded in death by his parents.
