She was an avid Iowa State fan, and enjoyed following sports, especially football and basketball. Naomi passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, IA at the age of 93. She is survived by her son, Gary (Debby) Garst of Buffalo Center, IA; grandchildren, Matthew (Sheryl) Garst of Council Bluffs, IA and their children, George, Audrey and Morgan; Mark Garst of Lakota, IA and his children, Bailee, Zeke and Franklin; Carmen (Ryan) Criddle of Claremont, MN and their children Isaac and James; daughter-in-law Lucy Garst of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, Beth Garst of Littleton, CO; Nicole (Chuck) Forsythe of Minneapolis, MN and their son Colin; Ashley (Sam Opp) Garst of Arvada, CO; sisters-in-law, Gladys Shortenhaus of Albert Lea, MN, Ruth Shortenhaus of Sioux City, IA and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding her in death are her husband, Clarence "Zeke"; her parents; son, Clarence "Ike"; brothers, Harry Shortenhaus and Leon Shortenhaus.
