ears, he taught first grade at Grant Wood Elementary School retiring in 1995. He was a member of the ICEA (Iowa City Education Association) serving as president and chief negotiator. He was a member St. Wenceslaus Church; actively involved with Pre-Cana and the National Marriage Encounter. Clarence served on the Johnson County Retired School Personnel and as a standardized and simulated patient for medical and dental Students at UI. He and Dorothy were founding members of the Bed and Breakfast Guild of Iowa. They ran Haverkamp's Linn St. Homestay for 19 years. Survivors include his children: Anne (Jim) Croker and their children Jennifer, Lisa (Chris) Spiek, Jimmy, and Andy; John (Kay) Brejcha and their children Kelly (Gabe) Thexton and Matt (Rebecca); Michael (Lisa) and their children Rowan and Laurel; Thomas (Kim) and their children Joe (Kristen) and Dan (Lisa); James (Joyce) and their daughter Sofia; ten great-grandchildren; his sister Martha Haverkamp; and many nieces and nephews. Clarence was also preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Helen Nelson and Mary Masuen; his sister-in-law Betty Shay and his brothers-in-law Jack Shay and Robert Nelson.
