their freezer and cupboards were full each autumn with their backyard harvest. Irene was devoted to her family, including the four-legged as well as the two-legged members. She was a woman of strong faith and with her family, were among the founding and longest serving members of Grace Lutheran Church in Deephaven. Irene was active in all facets of church life, as well as operating and teaching nursery school at the church with her friend, Betty LeDell. Irene led a life of compassion, goodness, and faith. Her loving and generous spirit extended to all she encountered throughout her life. She will be missed by her surviving children, Fred Einspahr (Susan) of Kalamazoo, MI, and Ann Parent (Rick) of Warren, ME, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Irene joins those who have gone before, including her parents, her husband, John, her daughter, Mary Waters, and her siblings. Visitation will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch, IA followed by a funeral service at 9:00 a.m. Graveside committal services will be 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Odebolt Cemetery in Odebolt, Iowa.
