n (Linda) Nylin of Cedar Rapids, a daughter Cynthia (Michael) Skopec of Traer, Iowa, and a daughter Sue (Gary) Lovik of Atkins, Iowa.
Paul was employed by several companies in the Chicago metro area, followed by a transfer to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, by the Quaker Oats Company and ultimately formed Barlin Controls Company, a designer and manufacturer of industrial control panels for major industries in partnership with Acme Electrical Company.
Paul was a lifelong sail boater, spending many vacations with his family on Spirit Lake in northwest Iowa. He enjoyed golfing, flight simulation and model railroading, creating an HO gauge layout in his home and later an N gauge layout in a walk-in closet at their Meth-Wick Community apartment.
Over the years Paul and Dawn were frequent attenders at elder hostels with his brother, Don.
Paul and Dawn were charter members of three United Methodist congregations in the Chicago metro area and Paul has served in many areas at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, serving the last 10 years as Membership Secretary. Paul served for several years as Treasurer of Sally's Gifts, a gift shop at the Meth-Wick Community.
Paul is survived by his wife, Dawn; his son and daughters; seven grand-children; and three great-grandchildren.
