White Funeral Home 400 First Street West Independence, Iowa 50644 Independence - Jane A. McGill, 83 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Lexington Estate in Independence.  She was born on March 7, 1934, in Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of Florine and Ines Rebecca (Kunkle) Rice.  She graduated from West High School in Waterloo, Iowa, with the Class of 1951.  Mrs. McGill was a secretary for Nash Finch in Waterloo before she and Dale Dunlap McGill were married on November 21, 1953, in Waterloo.  They dairy farmed in Buchanan County for 57 years before retiring in 1997.  After 60 years of marriage, Dale preceded her in death in 2014.Her greatest joy was her family and her greatest talent was cooking and baking.  She never sent anyone away hungry. Mrs. McGill is survived by 1 son, Stephen (Nancy) McGill of Nevada, Iowa, and 2 daughters, Lou Ann (Stuart) Allen and Cindy (Charlie) McCardle, both of Independence, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
