Kelly Konkler, 68, of Shannon City, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home. Graveside memorial celebration of life services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Burial will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Full Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Maurice Dunn American Legion Post # 7. In lieu of flowers memorials are to the family.
Kelly Joe Konkler, son of Richard Everett Konkler and Norma Mardale (Siddens) was born April 10, 1949 in Creston, Iowa. He graduated from East Union High School in 1968. After high school he attended Southwestern Community College. Kelly served his country as a part of the United States Navy.
On December 17, 1971, in Creston at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kelly was united in marriage to Deborah Lynne Pryor. They settled in Creston where he worked High Line Company traveling for the next few years. They later divorced. After returning to Creston Kelly began working for Winterstien Construction doing Construction work and later for Max Smith as a heavy equipment operator. y was a member of A-bate. In his spare time he enjoyed painting motorcycle tanks, riding his motorcycle, dogs and shooting guns.
Kelly is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Jo Rouh (fianc Justin Opheim) of Emmetsburg, Ia. and Heather (husband Austin) Trembly of Creston; a step-daughter LaDawna Doolittle of Council Bluffs, Ia.; a step-daughter-in-law Valarie Curtis two brothers, Tony (wife Bobbi) Konkler of Carroll, Ia. and Kirby Konkler; three sisters, Tracy Fredrickson of Thayer, Ia., Leslie (husband Ray) Farris of Albany, Miss and Joey Kugler of Beatrice, Neb. and six grandchildren, Molly Jo, Elizabeth Gail, Alyssa, Hadlee, Keagan and Collyn; four step-grandchildren, Aleigha, Abbigail, Emma and McKenzie and one step-great-granddaughter Elliana. Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, step-son Mike Hartsook and a sister Darcy Konkler.
