Elaine J. Carsok age 90 of Norton Shores died early Thursday morning, December 28, 2017. Elaine was born July 4, 1927 in Grand Rapids to the late Henry and Agatha (Davey) Dryer. She graduated from Creston High School and Kalamazoo College with a bachelor's degree in education. On August 12, 1949 she married Paul Carsok in Grand Rapids. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2007. Elaine taught at Fairview High School and Main Oakview Elementary School for several years and was active in the music and physical education departments. She also directed the Junior and Senior choirs in addition to the children's choir at church. She was an active member of North Park Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids, and at First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon, she was involved with their women's music and choral groups. She was a member of the MEA and the Grand Rapids Choral Society, Grand Rapids Community Concert, and a Service League member in Muskegon. Elaine also found time to play an occasional round of golf with the ladie's league at Muskegon Country Club, and played a lot of pickle ball later in life with her special friends at Tanglewood Park. loved spending time at the cottage in Port Sheldon, enjoying the beach and a swim in Lake Michigan. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, and will be dearly missed by her children, Paula (Robert) Garver, Brad (Sandi) Carsok, Jeff (Rose) Carsok; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Russ) and Kimberly (Jimmy), and two great-grandchildren. She was a dear friend to all that met her. She is also survived by one sister, Diane (Frank) Gorman and several nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Paul, and sister and brother in law, Joyce (Herbert) Heinz, and dear friend, Duane Quigg. The Celebration of Life for Elaine will be on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon with Pastor Jim Rausch officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church (Muskegon), Tanglewood Park, or Heartwood Lodge. We are sincerely grateful to the wonderful staff at Heartwood Lodge for the loving care they provided our mother following the tragic accident that occurred on August 17, 2017.
