John S. Streater, age 69, died on January 1, 2018 in Winona, Minnesota.
John was born in Winona on March 30, 1948 to Harold and Louise Streater. John attended the Winona public schools, and then two years at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
John worked for many years at Lake Center Switch in Winona. He started out programming on IBM punch-cards but he then moved into automotive design, where he focused on electrical switch design. John left Lake Center and took his design expertise in automotive switches to the Chicago area, working for Cherry Switches for a few years before moving to Carthage, Illinois and taking a job with Methode Electronics. John was retired at the time of his death.
When John wasn't busy designing the next, best switch for the auto industry, he rode motorcycles, raced hydroplanes, promoted concerts, flew and jumped out of planes, collected art and Mercedes and boats, and officiated at the marriages of many people. John really lived, really loved, and now he has left, and will be sorely missed by his many friends and family.

and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann and his brother James.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on January 13, 2018 at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home followed by a celebration of John's life at Bub's Brewery from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with music, food and beverages.
