y school until her parents purchased a farm along the Decatur county line. She graduated from Selden Rural High School with the class of 1938. Jo was employed for four years at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver, Colorado as a nurse's aide. This is where she met her future husband John.
On October 2, 1942 Jo was married to John Douglass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Denver. They moved to Akron, Colorado where they made their home and farmed and where they had their three children Carolyn, Leonard and Marlene.
In 1956 they moved east of Galeton, Colorado where they also farmed. In 1964 they moved to Greeley, Colorado where Jo worked for 17 years for School District 6 lunch program. Jo retired due to an eye illness. Jo and John enjoyed traveling and fishing with family and friends.
In 1999 due to the loss of her husband of 56 years and her eye illness Jo moved to her daughter and son-in-law's farm in Galeton. Jo was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and the frequent phone calls she received from her sisters and brothers. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Survivors include her three children Carolyn Cecil of Galeton, Leonard Douglass of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Marlene and Jim Cross of Greeley; three brothers, Charles "Bud" and Vicky Mumm, Clem and Pat Mumm and Kenny Mumm all of Kansas; four sisters, Margaret Roy and Dolores Raile both of Kansas, Clara and Dick Newton and Judy and Gordon Smith all of Colorado; sister-in-law, Gail Mumm of Kansas; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, on January 23, 1998, in addition to her parents, a son-in-law, Wayne, four brothers, Gottfried Bernard, Paul, Fredrick (Fritz) and Hubert Mumm, four sisters, Anogene (Gene) Rogers, Alberta (Seraph) Ritter, Eleanor (Stan) Rogers and Juliann Mumm and brothers-in-law, Gene Roy and Charlie Raile.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 with Recitation of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 915 12th Street, Greeley. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
