Carroll Dean Thompson, 90, of Walnut Ridge, Ark., formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, January 7 at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge, Ark. He was born August 8, 1927 in Wallingford, son of Clarence and Alvina Gleason Thompson. He married Marlene Strauser April 20, 1957 in Waterloo. She died November 25, 2010. Carroll was employed at Titus Manufacturing for 23 years, worked for Black Hawk County for four years and retired from Chamberlain Manufacturing. He was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church and Burton Avenue Baptist Church. He served in the US Army, in Germany, as a military policeman from 1945-1949. Survivors include a son, David Thompson of Doniphan, Mo.; two daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Wise of Doniphan, Mo. and Ramona Thompson of Warsaw, Mo.; two brothers, Merlyn Thompson and Ronald Thompson, both of Waterloo; a grandson, Joshua Wise and two great-grandsons, Oliver and Remington. Preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Dray. Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 12 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Iowa Army Honor Guard.
