Jerry Getchell

Jerry W. Getchell age 70 of Summit Lake died Thursday, March 01, 2007 at Langlade Memorial Hospital. He was born October 6, 1936 in Antigo to the late Woodrow and Lillian (Knoblock) Getchell. He married Laura Forbes. They later divorced and she survives. On January 26, 1974 he and the former Darlene Rustick married in Elcho. She survives. He served in United States Army from 1953 to 1957 in Belgium and France. He served in the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes for many years. He also served in the Army National Guard in Antigo for ten years. He worked as a gandi dancer on the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in the Antigo area. He owned and operated his own over the road truck until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, his dogs, and playing on his computer and he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He is a member of Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377, Elcho, Langlade County Voiture 1204, 40 et 8, and the French Club in Bicknell, IND. Jerry and Harry Clark were instrumental in conducting Memorial Day Services for many years at the Lily Cemetery, Lily, WI and St. Mary Cemetery, Pickerel, WI. One Brother Delmer Getchell of Minnesota and brother/cousin Gary (Jackie) Kramer of Crandon Preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, March 5, 2007 at Bradley Funeral Home, Hwy 45, Antigo. Rev. Les Munnik will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:30pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday from 11:00 am to the time of services. Elcho American Legion Post will stand honor guard from 6:30 to 7:30 pm Sunday and will conduct military honors at the funeral home following services.
