Gean Armstrong

Gean Everett Armstrong 79, husband of Judith Ann (Spencer) Armstrong died October 7, 2014 at home with his family at his side. He and his twin sister (June) were born on May 3, 1935 to Burton Armstrong and Bessie (Daniels) Armstrong in Barnett/Eldon, Missouri. His family moved from Eldon, MO to Daniels Gardens, Colorado where he lived until the age of 13, when he moved to Marshalltown, IA with his father. In March of 1953 he enlisted into the Marine Corp, in Des Moines, IA and stationed at Camp Pendleton in CA, Cpl. G. Armstrong was a camp cook where he met a fellow Marine, Jim Newman, whom he had kept in contact with. He was honorably discharged in March of 1956. During time served he earned the Korean Service Medal along with the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. On September 7, 1957, he married Judith A. Spencer, in Marshalltown, IA. Together they had a daughter Susie May and a son Larry Armstrong and a foster child Cindy Menter. nothing that he would not do for them, (this included his extended family). If your vehicle was not running well he could tell you what was wrong with it by just listening to it. There was nothing that he could not fix one way or another. He transformed a school bus into the family camper, remodeled his family home, kept the appliances operating (not just theirs but other family members as well), remodeled the vacation lake house, played the guitar and sang. But the most important thing he accomplished was a legacy of doing for others, going the extra mile, for them. He was a good son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife and best friend Judy, son Larry (Dawn) Armstrong, grandsons, Brandon Armstrong, Trevor (Andrea) Armstrong, and Nick (Erica) Bushinger, four great grandchildren, Alice, Liliana, Kirsten, and Nick, one brother, and four sisters, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a daughter (Susie), a foster daughter (Cindy), one sister, and two brothers. Graveside Services for Gean will be on October 16, 2014 at 11:00 am. With a luncheon to follow. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Boucher, Jim Newman, Larry Armstrong, Brandon Armstrong, Trevor Armstrong, and Nick Bushinger. Anderson Funeral Homes has taken over his care.
