obert was an active member of the Iowa River Church of the Brethren. He also enjoyed serving as a deacon. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Marie; his daughters, Michelle Griffieon of Osceola; Marilyn Rasmussen of West Branch; his grandchildren Devani DeArmond of Pella; Tracie (Cory) Courcier of Norwalk; David (Alei) Griffieon of Des Moines; Eric (Olya) Rasmussen of Vernon, Connecticut; Stacie Rasmussen and friend, Sharif Youssef of Iowa City; and Daniel Rasmussen of West Branch; and great grandchildren JordanMarie, Frances, Alexandrea, and Charlize DeArmond of Pella; and Megyn and Ryan Courcier of Norwalk. He is survived by his sister Lorraine (Les)Bartlett of McKinney, Texas; sister in law, Mavis Gray of Marshalltown, brother in law, Edward Jordan of New Albin, Iowa and sister in law, Sue Jordan of Orangeburg, South Carolina. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and friends that he loved very much. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother and sister-in-law Alfred (Bernelle) Ellis of Michigan; sister, Faye Ellis; sister Alice Johnson; niece Gloria Johnson all of Wisconsin; sister and brother- in-law Evelyn (William) Clark of Marshalltown; parents- in-law Rudolph and Minna Jordan of New Albin; niece Leslie Clark Plowman and her son Dustin Plowman of Marshalltown; brothers- in-law Sigurd Jordan of Orangeburg, South Carolina and Martin Gray of Marshalltown. Adoring and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren were favorite activities. He loved trout fishing, tending his flower garden, camping in his RV named Herky; cheering as devout Hawkeye sports fan; deer and turkey hunting, reading; feeding birds, hiking, and traveling with family members as a group.
