Sarah Margaret (Williams) Rierson, of Mitchellville, Iowa, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, after a short illness. The Celebration of Life for Sarah will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Mitchellville Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mitchellville Public Library. Anderson Funeral Home, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown has assisted with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com Born in Shelbina, Missouri, October 4, 1931, to John and Elizabeth Williams, Sarah was an outstanding nurse receiving her RN in 1952 after studying at Drake University and Broadlawns School of Nursing. She practiced her nursing profession in different ways over her career. She was the first nurse to obtain a certification from the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses in the State of Iowa and belonged to the Governors Occupational Safety Health Association. 1. She filled her days honing her computer skills and enjoyed Tuesday afternoons at the Mitchellville Library teaching crocheting classes. Sarah is survived by her sons Donald, Jr. of Des Moines, IA, David (Edie) of Marshalltown, IA, Doug (Tanya) of Las Vegas, NV and daughter Sarah Lee Baumgartner (Randy) of Fenton, MO. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Rierson, infant son Eric, daughter Donna, and son Dennis.
