Craig Cordell, 54, of Creston died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Celebration of Life Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.
Open visitation will be 1-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018, with family receiving friends from 3-5:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to be determined later. Online condolences can be made at www.powersfh.com.
Craig Eugene Cordell was born November 10, 1963 in Creston, IA to Harold Eugene "Slim" Cordell and Beverly Elaine (Stevens) Cordell. He graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1982. After graduating with an Associate's Degree at SWCC, Craig studied at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Craig worked with Gilley Glass Company during his high school years. r with Sidetracked through the winters. Later on, Craig operated and managed the Cordell Construction business.
Craig loved playing cards, listening to music, dancing, watching western movies, and also reading westerns. He loved to hunt, fish and camp, especially at the Hacienda with his family. He was a NASCAR fan, and loved the Oakland Raiders. Craig also did photography on the side. In his early years, he enjoyed 3 wheelers and 4 wheelers, eventually graduating to his Harley Davidson, enjoying rides with friends, and their many trips. Craig was a member of the Creston Eagles Lodge, Iowa A.B.A.T.E. and the local Creston Motorcycle Club.
Survivors include his mother, Beverly and step-father Jim Roberts of Creston; his sister, Julie Cordell of Creston; nephew, Jason (wife Deb) Cordell of Urbana, Iowa; 2 nieces, Lacey (husband Nick) Giunta of Urbandale, Iowa and Kyla (husband Aaron) O'Boyle of Grimes, Iowa.; 1 great-niece, Lola Grace Cordell; 2 great-nephews, Gus & A.J. Giunta; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Slim Cordell in 2003 and his brother Troy on 1994, grandparents, Wayne Stevens, Harvey & Evelyn Chapman and Cecil & Minnie Cordell; uncle Albert "Cotton" Cordell; cousins, David Haidsiak and Terry Carroll.
