SISTER DORIS (MARY RODERIC) RECKER, OSF 80 of Midlothian, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Palos Heights, Illinois. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Francis Chapel. Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 with Funeral Vigil at 7:00 p.m. in Francis Chapel. Burial: Burial of cremains will take place at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Sister Doris was born August 13, 1937 in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Agnes (Helle) Recker and Lucille (Soppe) Recker . Sister Doris entered the Sisters of St. Francis August 25, 1956 and made final profession of vows August 12, 1962. Sister received her BA in English from Briar Cliff University in 1969. She was missioned as a teacher in Minnesota at St. Timothy in Coon Rapids; in Iowa at Sacred Heart in Pocahontas, Holy Cross School in Holy Cross, and Holy Trinity in Luxemburg; in Illinois at Mater Christi, North Riverside and at St. Christopher, Midlothian. She was also missioned as Chaplain at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago, IL and Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, IL. Sister volunteere...[more]

Survivors: Sister is survived by her sisters Phyllis (Ron) Burget and Ellen (Brian) Desbiens, stepbrother Donald (Ginny) Ricken, nieces, nephews, and her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared over 60 years of her life.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents and sister Edith (Dave) Risley.
