e. Gaylen was a giver. He had donated over 36 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross as well as many platelets donation, Even after death, Gaylen was a organ donor. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, which was off the charts, and his jokes that made many laugh and smile. Gaylen is survived by his wife, Betty, of Warsaw; his mother, Rene Sparrow, of Keokuk; son, Jason Sparrow, of Keokuk; step-daughter, Joy Kirkpatrick, of Warsaw; step-son, Bill Walte, of Springfield, OR ; two grandsons, Coleby Paulson, of Carlsbad, CA and Lathem Paulson, of Ramona, CA; brother, Carson Sparrow, of West Point, IA; two aunts, Irma Hickey of Illinois, and Joyce Sparrow of Warsaw; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Lester, and his brother Terry, both of Keokuk. Services celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on 917 Blondeau Street in Keokuk with Rev. Larry Mulch officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, in Warsaw, IL. Visitation will be held before the funeral service, from 11 AM- 2 PM at funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Humane Society at 12th and Johnson in Keokuk, Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw, IL, or to Park View Bible Church in Hamilton, IL.
