Karen M. Schoonover, 76 of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 11 at Ravenwood Specialty Care. She was born June 14, 1941in Waterloo, daughter of Frank and Catherine Mandler. She married Richard C. Malven Jan.23, 1958 in Waterloo and later divorced. She married Vernon Schoonover June 11, 1977 in Waterloo. Karen graduated from West High and Hawkeye Tech as a nurse's aide. Survived by: her husband of Waterloo; a daughter, Debbie Winter of Waterloo; two sons, David Malven of Sterling Heights, Mich. and Scott Malven of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Jean Lieberg of Anaheim, Calif.. Preceded in death by: a daughter, Lori Matejka. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be for one hour before services at the funeral home on Friday.
