Concetta Tina Cerniglia, 81, of Highland, passed away at home on January 13, 2018.
Tina was born in Italy to Lucia De Prospro and Espedito DeSantis on December 18, 1936. She met her loving husband, a World War II veteran, Joseph Cerniglia, in Italy. They married, and he brought her home to NY in 1957. She taught herself English while raising their family in Poughkeepsie. A beloved mother, grandmother, & great grandmother; her world revolved around her family. A fantastic cook, she was always happy to set an extra plate, make a delicious soup to ward off the cold, or brew a pot of espresso. A generous & gracious friend, she was instantly admired by acquaintances and deeply loved by longtime friends. Her door was always open, her attitude always positive, and her will unbreakable. She loved to shop, garden, and go on adventures with family & friends. She lived her life without complaint, always dignified, and true to her beliefs. She was a pillar of Strength whose stories of living to the fullest will be retold over and over again. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Cerniglia: her brother, Nicola DeSantis: her grandchildren: Christopher Bernier, Nicole & Joey Cerniglia, and Jake Cerniglia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to A-T Children's Project or Make-A-Wish Foundation. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to Hudson Valley Hospice, Torsone Funeral Home, and to each of Tina's many supportive friends.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 20th 11:00am at Saint Augustine Roman Catholic Church, 55 Main St., Highland, NY 12528. Burial will be private.
