Later, while working as an occupational therapist at Brook Army Medical Center, she met Capt. Joseph P. Wier and they married in College Station in 1946. She taught elementary school in the Fort Worth ISD for more than 22 years, teaching at S. S. Dillow, Crestwood, and Oaklawn where she received an individualized instruction project award from the Perot Foundation in 1976.

Family and friends will miss Micki's friendly smile, her caring ways and the genuine love and interest she showed to all. Special thanks to the individual staff members of Heritage Place Assisted Living and of Encompass Hospice who went the extra mile in brightening Micki's days and providing kind and compassionate care.
