Bill Cihak, 86, of Creston, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Creston Specialty Care in Creston.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. Father Ken Halbur will officiate. Flag presentation by the Theodore J. Martens Post #1797, Creston VFW. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. Open visitation will be 2 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 23 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with family receiving friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and a 5 p.m. Christian Prayer Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are for a State Fair Memorial Bench or to St. Malachy Catholic School. Online condolences may be given at www.powersfh.com.
William Joseph "Bill" Cihak was born December 26, 1931 in Creston, Ia. to Matilda Marie (Vais) Cihak and William Dennis Cihak. Bill graduated from Creston High School in 1950. Bill served in the United States Air Force, beginning in March 1951.

In 1955 they moved back to Creston to a farm southwest of town, where Bill farmed for many years. After retiring in 2004 they moved into Creston.
Bill was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Theodore J. Martens Creston VFW Post #1797 and the Creston American Legion Post #70. Bill had been a long-time member of the Elks Lodge #605 and Eagles Lodge #1398, both of Creston.
He enjoyed camping at the Iowa State Fair, traveling, RFD Polka, farming and gardening. He loved being with family and friends and he also was a Hawkeye fan.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marlene Cihak of Creston; two daughters, Cathy Seddon and Angela Brokaw, both of Creston; a son, Craig (wife Jamey) Cihak of San Antonio, Texas; a son-in-law, Tony Seddon; a sister, Mary Ann Walsh of Creston.; a brother-in-law Richard Manatrey of Valparaiso, Ind..; 10 grandchildren: Jeremy Seddon, Cassie (Seddon) Randall, Stacie (Brokaw) Chaney, Alex, Jason, Justin Brokaw, Joe, Joy, Daniel and Jonathan Cihak; seven great-grandchildren; Kynzlee Seddon, Nevaeh, Rohwyn, Harlow and Mosley Randall, Ashlyn Chaney and Kinnick Host.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Leo Walsh.
