He was Dean of Arts and Sciences at Aims Community College until he retired in 1993. Following his retirement from Aims, he was a realtor for Kelsey and Assoc., and later Coldwell Banker. In addition, he was a longtime member and trustee of the Greeley Elks 809. He was active in Rotary. He served as president of the Northern Colorado Center of Deafness and also volunteered at Senior Resource Services.
He and Jean enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states plus numerous countries, and wintered in Port Aransas, TX. Though he traveled extensively, he never lost sight of his roots in Saint Francis and was proud to be a Kansas farm boy. He was also an avid fisherman and would never turn down a day out with the boys. But his true love was family and he dedicated much of his time and energy in support of all his loved ones.
He is remembered by his wife, Jean; son, Greg Raile; daughter, Jamie Raile; stepdaughter, Rebecca (Michael) Sperber; stepson, Bruce (Claudette) Thompson; stepdaughter, Terry (Bradley) Lewis; sisters, Elaine (John) Kite and Anita (Marvin) Miller. He will also be missed by his 11 grandchildren and their spouses and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Berenice Reinholdt and Corrine Montgomery.
Dwane was known for his wit and humor as well as a generous heart. He changed the lives of everyone he touched; students, faculty, friends and most of all his family. Pops will be sorely missed and always remembered. "See you Tuesday!"
