Madison- Margharetta "Elaine" (Kohler) Miller, a long time Madison resident left this earth January 24, 2018, to be with our creator, family, and friends that she loved and missed so much. She was born April 1, 1922 in Portage, WI also living in Baraboo, Chicago and Green Bay. She married John R. "Jack" Miller on June 1, 1942 after having met in April 1942. She and dad traveled together as he trained for overseas deployment as a B17 pilot. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Margharetta (King) Kohler, her brother Gordon Kohler, her husband Jack Miller, and her granddaughters Diana Gruter and Ruany Kruk. She worked for many years and developed lasting relationships at what was Gimbels and became Macy's. Her last job there was at the candy counter and she became known as the candy lady. She worked there until age 84. A loving friend she met at the store, Penny Weider, has been a significant part of her life for many years. Elaine was the family historian, having developed a passion for genealogy. She did a fantastic job prior to the computer age and traced many lines back to their European roots. Elaine is survived by her children Judi Loeffeholz, John (Lynda) Miller, Jean (Rick) Gibbs and Linda (John) Scalissi. Her grandchildren are Lisa Ramirez, Sarah Elswick-Hustad, Alex Miller, Jack Miller, Emery Miller, Alex Gibbs, Caroline (Matt) Rittner, Hershel (Jamie) Miller, Brad Schabel and Nick Schabel. Her great-grandchildren are Andrea, Kelsey, Jenna, Tanya, Isaiah, Lita, Kent, Kaitlynne, Eli and Gigi. Her great-great-grandchildren are Channing and Cadence. Elaine also kept a lifelong relationship with her high school friend Ginny Amen. It would be impossible to list all the people who have loved her and been loved by our cherished mother.
