Lona "Juanita" Barton passed away at Poudre Valley Hospital on Saturday, January 27th, 2018. Born to James Hugh and Rosie V. Wheeler, on April 29, 1928 in Freedom, Oklahoma, her family moved to Colorado in 1937. She graduated from Cache La Poudre High School in LaPorte, Colorado before attending a Denver business college.
She was employed as a secretary at the Young Women's Christian association in Denver for a brief period before marrying Carl H. Balloux. They divorced shortly before the couple's only child, V. "Juanita" Balloux, was born in 1949.
Later, she was married to Clyde L. Virgin for ten years, who preceded her in death in 1973.
In 1965, Juanita started at Hewlett-Packard in Loveland, then was moved to the Boise, Idaho plant, where she met Ed Barton. She and Ed were married in Reno, Nevada in 1977. They relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1978. After Mr. Barton's death in 1988, she was employed by Forney's as a manufacturing assembler and by Steele's Market bakery until she retired.

her younger years, she found enjoyment in dancing and roller skating; later in life, she enjoyed collecting various items. She is known for her collection of dolls and was a die-hard Broncos fan.
She is survived by her daughter, V. Juanita Martin (Bill); four grandchildren, Shawntel Wilson (Jay), Nelle Bottke (Ken), Daniel Gallegos (Dalena), and Thomas Gallegos (Melissa); nine great-grandchildren, Devon Lain, AshLynne Van Ry (Micky), Cody Lain, Autumn Bottke, Kyler Bottke, Tessa Bottke, Taylor Deatherage, Austin Deatherage, and Tony Reeger; one great-great grandson, Isaac Deatherage; nephew Joe Chinn (Jodie), grand-nephew Connor Chinn, and grand-niece Mikayla Chinn.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 31 at 11 a.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery.
