Funeral services for Mrs. Elva Dean Whitaker, age 80, of Monroe will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Don Maxson officiating. Burial will be in Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m.Mrs. Whitaker died June 16, 2009 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was born January 10, 1929 in Overton County to the late Keeton and Lena Cravens Garrett. She was an auto parts factory worker.She attended Monroe Christian Church.She is survived by a sister, Barbara Martin of Monroe; nieces, Denise Garrett of Euless, TX, Diane Strehle of Dallas, TX, Debbie Lawver of Akron, OH, Patty Martin of Clyde, NC, and Donna Sisco of Monterey, TN; nephews, Richard Martin of Greer, NC and David Garrett of Washington.She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Durward Garrett.
