Angeline Cherek

Angeline Cherek, of Antigo, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Langlade Hospital. She was 93 years old. She was born on October 16, 1915 in Antigo to Robert and Winifred (Bannach) Nolte. She married Robert King in January 1934. He preceded her in death in 1943. In 1947 she married John Cherek, he preceded her in death in 1965. She cleaned area homes and took in laundry for many years to support herself and her two young children. She was employed for 40 years in women's fashion at Jeane's Hats and Dresses, which became Lu's Fashion. She retired in 1990. Mrs. Cherek was a member of St. Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church. For many years she was active in parish activities and also cleaned St. Mary Catholic Church and rectory. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Jack) Steffek, Green Bay, one son, John (Linda) Cherek, White Bear Lake, MN, a son-in-law, Thomas Igl, Antigo, two sisters, Jeanette Robrecht, Green Bay, Joann (Vern) Reynolds, Green Bay, a brother, Thomas Nolte, Milwaukee, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Tibbets, three brothers Eugene, Norman and Robert Nolte. Services will be held on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Michael E. Betley, officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home.
