Emerson Bradford Houck, 83,Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in Boca Grande, Florida on January 25, 2018. Beloved husband of 60 years to Jane (Hanna); dear father of daughter, Elizabeth Houck Warnock; sons, Joseph Houck & Douglas (Sally) Houck; devoted grandfather of Jane Warnock, Marshall Warnock, Emerson W. Houck, Hanna Houck & Morgen Houck; brother of Sister, Marcia Houck Williams; brother in law of Donald Williams, Judy Heidenreich (deceased) & Thomas Heidenreich; and uncle to 7 nieces and nephews. Emerson was born July 29th, 1934 to Elizabeth Delaplane Houck and Marshall Bradford Houck in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He graduated from Oak Park High School in Illinois, class of 1952; Dartmouth College in 1956 for mechanical engineering; and Tuck Thayer School, Dartmouth in 1958 with a Master of Science in Engineering and Business Administration. Emerson was an All-American swimmer in HS & a varsity swimmer in College; he dedicated his entire career, 35 years, at Eli Lilly & Co, retiring as an Executive Director. Indianapolis Garden Club, United Fund, Daughters of Charity National Health System 1996 - 1999. He was a proud recipient of the Dartmouth College Alumni Award. He was an avid tennis player, voracious reader, amazing photographer & a serious collector. Author of "Go Huskies Beat Felix the Cat" and "Hoosiers All" His family and friends would say he had an incredible mind and was always curious, always learning. A devoted friend and father, he will be missed forever by his loved ones and those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Noon with calling starting at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Oaks Academy, 2301 N.
