Jean Richardson, 89, of Creston, died Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home HCI in Creston.
Celebration of Life Service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate.
Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston.
Open visitation will be from 2:00 7:00 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 5 7 p.m. Monday at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Avenue in Creston.

Norma Jean (Buxton) Richardson, daughter of Cora Beatrice (Recknor) and Alfred Lee Buxton, was born on November 6, 1928 in rural Adams County. The family moved to Union County and she graduated from Creston High School in 1946.
On June 7, 1948, Jean married Paul D. Richardson in Creston where they settled and were life-long residents. They had four children, Karen, Martha, Michael, and Mark. Paul died in 1983.

er Regional Medical Center for 13 years. She also did some private care during those years. Norma began working as the Union County Deputy Recorder in 1969 and in 1971 she was elected to be Union County Recorder. She retired after 24 years of service to the county in December of 1994.
Outside of Jean's professional life, she was an active mother, homemaker and friend. Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Creston and the United Methodist Women. She was also active with the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston serving on the Hospital Board of Trustees, Hospital Auxiliary and Greater Regional Hospice. She was on the Union County Compensation Board, Former Chair of the Union County Republicans and former member of the Creston Chamber of Commerce. She was also the President of the Homeowners Association at Quiet Harbor and a member of South Valley Quilters.
In 2007, Jean married Joe Henry in Creston, Iowa. She was lovingly welcomed into Joe's family by Mike (Eleanor) Henry, Pam (Roger) Hill, Pat (Debbie) Henry, Tim (Karri) Henry, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband, Joe Henry of Creston; daughters, Karen (Dan) Pipkin of Fresno, Calif. and Martha Richardson of Clarkesville, Ga.; sons, Michael (Lacey) Richardson of Creston and Mark (Julie) Richardson of Monmouth, Ill.; seven grandsons, Sam and Phillip Mann, Adrian, Damian, and Donovan Richardson, and Seth and Max Richardson; five great-grandchildren, Emily and Logan Mann, Olivia Mann, and Jocelyn and Roman Richardson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, brother Burdette "Buck" Buxton and two sisters, Claudine Spriggs and Glenna Maxine Buxton as a child.
