on, Greggory.Dennis was active in the Army National Guard from 1971 to 1977. He and Paulette farmed and made their home in Madison County. He enjoyed tending to his livestock, working his land, maintaining his equipment and nurturing young animals of all types. He was a true steward of the land. Dennis always had a garden and Paulette would can his produce. He was a past member of the Madison County Extension Council. Dennis took great joy tinkering in his garage, woodworking and making custom equipment. He spent his free time camping, fishing with friends and Aunt Anna, attending potlucks and watching Gomer Pyle. His greatest treasures were his grandsons, Jacob, Gavin and Sean. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who cherished the time spent with the ones he loved.Dennis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Paulette Hochstetler of Dallas Center; son, Greggory (Mary) Hochstetler of Grimes; three grandsons, Jacob, Gavin and Sean Hochstetler; sister, Ann (Kenneth) McKibben of Riverside; brothers, Clair (Patricia) Hochstetler of Dexter, Stephen (Mayumi) Hochstetler of Honolulu, HI; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Dorothy, and a nephew, Michael Bayliss.
