n was a talented craftsperson, dedicating much of her time to outfitting friends and family with unique and cherished hand-embroidered and knitted gifts and all manner of ceramic works. Christmas was a special time for her and she spent weeks creating intricately-hand-decorated confections from recipes passed down from her mother. She was a member of the St. Remy Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary and was a long-time parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus parish in Wilbur and Saint Mary's Church on Broadway. She could always be counted on to help organize and staff fundraisers and repainted Holy Name's Stations of the Cross, which was a particular source of satisfaction for her. Joan will be remembered as a consummate hostess, compassionate friend, dedicated volunteer, and steadfast role model. As her final act of selflessness, Joan dedicated her body to medical science in the hope that, as a three-time survivor, it will help in the fight against cancer. The family wishes to sincerely thank, and extend their deepest appreciation to, her physicians and the nursing and support staff at the HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus Inpatient Oncology Unit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 10 at Saint Mary's Church, 160 Broadway, Kingston. To leave a message of condolence, please visit Joan's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/joan.mccourt.161.
